Polish Football Association has prevented their coach Paulo Sousa from crossing over to Brazilian giants Flamengo.
Flamengo is in search of a new coach after the sacking of Renato Gaucho after the club's loss to Brazilian rivals Palmeiras in the Copa Libertadores final and it had been reported that they had convinced Sousa to join them.
The Poland boss was to terminate his contract with the country's FA but his request has since been denied.
“This is extremely irresponsible behavior and inconsistent with the coach’s previous statements. Therefore, I firmly refused," Poland Federation president Cezary Kulesza stated.
Sousa's agent Hugo Cajuda further claimed that no agreement had been made between his client and Flamengo and stated that the links were just rumors by the press.

“In recent days, much has been said and written about Paulo Sousa at Flamengo, and not always truthfully. There is a lot of information in the air that is not true at the moment. There isn’t even an oral agreement yet with Flamengo,” Cajuda said.
With the uncertainty over Sousa's future, the Poland Federation will have a meeting scheduled for December 29th to discuss the coach's contractual situation.
