William Saliba made his France debut on Tuesday as his side registered a 5-90 victory over South Africa in a friendly encounter.
Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta was delighted to see Saliba in action for France and has backed the club's decision to loan the defender out. The Frenchman is yet to make a competitive appearance for the north London side since completing his move from Saint-Ettiene in 2019.
"We are really aware of what he’s doing, how he’s developing," said the Spaniard.
"He’s our player and we are really happy with the decision that we made because the exposure, minutes, responsibility and growth at his age is something we could not guarantee him this season."
"It makes a lot of sense what is happening with him and we are glad to see him the way he is improving."
The 21-year-old has been on three separate loan spells during his time as an Arsenal player, with the latest a stint at Marseille.
