The 2021/22 Premier League season is approaching the final lap with seven matches to play.
For this reason, attention is shifting to the 2022/23 season, with the Premier League announcing that the 20 clubs' provisional schedules will be released on Thursday 16 June.
According to next season's schedule, the Premier League season will begin a little earlier, on the weekend of 6 August 2022.
Next season will be different though from the usual, as the FIFA World Cup takes place in Qatar in the middle of the domestic calendar.
The tournament is set for November/December in Qatar, the first-ever winter FIFA World Cup.
Players will join up with their national sides for the World Cup from Monday 14 November, by which time 16 Premier League rounds will have been played – there is the usual international break in September, but not in October.
The Premier League is then set to resume on Boxing Day, eight days after the World Cup final on 18 December.
The final match round of the 2022/23 campaign will be played on Sunday 28 May 2023.
