Man United preparing £115m double swoop for Darwin Nunez, Jurrien Timber

During the summer transfer window, Manchester United are allegedly planning bids for Benfica forward Darwin Nunez and Ajax defender Jurrien Timber.

Despite the club's failure to qualify for the 2022-23 Champions League, new Red Devils manager Erik ten Hag is likely to have a sizable budget to spend in the forthcoming market.

Edinson Cavani is departing on a free transfer, and Anthony Martial might potentially be moved on in the approaching market, so a new attacker will be a priority this summer.

Nunez and Timber are Man United's top targets, according to The Mirror, and Ten Hag has urged the club to launch a £115 million double bid for the duo this summer.

According to the source, Ten Hag wants to add six new players this summer, albeit a number of undesired individuals will have to be moved on to help the club's finances.

Cavani is expected to be followed out the door by Paul Pogba, Jesse Lingard, Juan Mata, and Nemanja Matic on free transfers, while Dean Henderson, Eric Bailly, Phil Jones, and Axel Tuanzebe might also go.

Timber is expected to cost around £35 million, with the Amsterdam giants unable to turn down a significant bid for the defender this summer.

During the 2021-22 season, the Netherlands international made 43 appearances for Ajax, scoring three goals and providing two assists.

Nunez, meanwhile, is expected to cost over £80 million, with the Uruguayan international having a strong season for Benfica.

During the 2021-22 season, the 22-year-old scored 34 goals and added four assists in 41 appearances for his Portuguese side in all competitions.

Nunez has scored 47 goals and provided 16 assists in 84 games for the Reds since joining from Almeria in September 2020, and he has been linked with a number of teams ahead of the summer transfer window.

According to a recent source, Benfica valued the forward at over £100 million, but Man United hoped to lower the asking price by putting Martial in the transaction.

Nunez scored 26 goals and had four assists in 28 league matches during the 2021-22 season, as well as six goals in ten Champions League appearances.
