Arsenal advanced to the fourth round of the FA Cup after beating Blackpool 3-0 on Saturday 5th.

Joe Willock netted a brace before Alex Iwobi added the second to ensure the Gunners get second win of the year. Blackpool gave a good account of themselves and will be pleased with their display but, ultimately, they were outclassed by a superior Arsenal side.

Big chance

After dominating early in the game Nketiah squandered a glorious chance which could have put Arsenal ahead. Ramsey played through an incisive pass to Maitland-Niles who slipped in Nketiah but he dragged his shot wide into the side netting.

Just after two minutes, Blackpool had their chance after Gnanduillet got the better of Lichtsteiner and skipped by him before trying to slot the ball past Cech from close range. However, Cech made an important stop to deny Blackpool from taking the lead.

Nketiah yet another missed another golden chance. There was a sloppy pass from Feeney, giving the ball to Jenkinson before he laid it off to Maitland-Niles. He squared a ball across for Nketiah to apply a finish at the back post but he missed the target again.

Willock goal

Arsenal won a freekick on the edge of the box which Ramsey stood over. His powerful effort deflected off the wall and hit the inside of the post. The ball came straight out to Willock to head into the empty net.

Willock’s brace

Iwobi laid the ball off to the overlapping Jenkinson who drilled a ball across the goalmouth. Nketiah got a slight flick on it before Willock tapped in at the far post to extend Arsenal’s lead.

Disallowed goal

Willock could have had a hattrick but the goal was disallowed. He had the ball in the net but the goal could not count as Kolasinac, who played a square ball across, was offside when he picked up the ball on the left flank.

Third goal

A simple goal for Arsenal. Lacazette played the ball to an unmarked Ramsey on the left. His toe-poked effort was saved by Mafoumbi before Iwobi tapped in the rebound.
