Tooro United head coach Wasswa Bbosa has come out and blamed their Stanbic Uganda Cup exit on fatigue and bad pitch conditions.
The side from Kabarole played to a goalless draw at Kyabazinga stadium, Bugembe against Wakiso Giants but fell to a 4-2 in a penalty shootout.
“We could have done better,” admitted Bbosa. “But again, the boys were fatigued."
“You can’t play in Tooro on Tuesday and then travel to Jinja three days later. That was a big factor in our defeat."
The former SC Villa and Express head coach also had no kind words for the pitch and further expressed his disappointment in the playing conditions.
“The pitch is also unplayable and we couldn’t use the ball well on such a surface."
Bbosa didn’t spare his experienced players as well for failure to stand up in the shootout.
“The senior players refused to go take penalties yet this is a moment where experience could have come in."
Tooro United were pre-match favourites after eliminating KCCA but will now have to wait till next season for a chance to win the competition.
