Bonucci: I was unhappy about Cristiano Ronaldo's signing

Juventus defender Leonardo Bonucci has revealed that he was unhappy about Cristiano Ronaldo's switch from Real Madrid to the Turin based club but has hailed his impact since his arrival.

Ronaldo shocked the footballing world when he ended his nine-year stay with Real Madrid to join Juventus in the summer transfer window for a Serie A record fee of €100 million. Ronaldo had recently tormented Juventus in previous editions of the Champions League with Real Madrid including his brace in the 2017 final as they went on to list the trophy.

Speaking in a press conference ahead of the Atletico Madrid clash, Bonucci revealed that he was not happy when Juventus signed Ronaldo, "If the best in the world, Cristiano Ronaldo, arrives, it means that your level has grown. Our goal is to win the Champions League, we cannot and must not hide. When he arrived I was not very happy because I was still an opponent (laughs). But it's really nice for Italian football. If you sign the best, it means that our league has again become attractive.

"I appreciate his consistency and simplicity. Since his arrival he was immediately available, always has a word of support for each teammate. Every day, before and after workouts, you can find him at the gym. He is a machine, he never stops and you can only admire it."
