Mbarara City head coach shocked by fans' disrespect

Mbarara City Football Club lost 2-1 at home to Onduparaka on Wednesday, February 20 which has resulted in head coach Charles Mbabazi threatening to resign.

The news comes after it was reported that a group of fans verbally abused Mbabazi over the loss, despite it being the side's first defeat this season at Kakyeeka stadium.

In an exclusive interview with Kawowo Sports, Mbabazi has however acknowledged he has not yet resigned but will his hand will be forced if fans continue to hurl insults at him.

"I am shocked fans abused me after the loss to Onduparaka. This season, we have done well and fans should not pay me back with abuses. I will leave if they continue to disrespect me," he said.

Mbabazi initially joined Mbarara City FC from Kyetume, a side plying its trade in the FUFA Big League.

He had earlier coached Onduparaka Football Club having also served as the Somalia national team head coach.

Charles Mbabazi is a former Uganda Cranes international who played at Express, Villa and KCCA before he moved on to Asec Mimosa in Ivory Coast, Esperance (Tunisia), St Patrick Athletic (Ireland) and eventually retiring in Thailand.
