Late Odur penalty saves Express against Maroons

A late Tony Odur’s penalty was all that Express needed to force a share of spoils with Maroons Fc at the Wankulukuku stadium.

Solomon Walusimbi capitalised on a Mathias Muwanga’s error to give the visitors a shock lead.

The Red Eagles custodian had failed to deal away with a tricky corner, failing to punch it away ten minutes into the second period. The ball fell on Solomon Walusimbi’s path which he ably converted.

With the Express destined for a loss and with only five minutes remaining on the clock, new signing Brian Umony picked up a pass and cut into the box but was hacked down before shooting.

The centre referee, Rajab Bakasambe, did not hesitate to award a penalty which Odur stepped up and planted in.

The draw moves Express one place to 9th on the table with 25 points as Maroons stay three above the red zone.
