Maela talks about listening to experienced teammates

15 Apr 2019, 20:25

Orlando Pirates wingback Innocent Maela has spoken about the value his experienced teammates bring to the table Pirates.

The former Thanda Royal Zulu captain admitted that there’s real excitement after the back to back wins over Black Leopards and Free State Stars.

“Obviously the mood is good, and the excitement is there, but we also have people who are experienced – Musa Nyatama, Happy Jele, Mpho Makola, Thabo [Matlaba] – people that have been there [in title-winning times], who keep us grounded,” said Maela to Kick Off.

“They emphasise that we need to stay humble, listen to the coaches and make sure that we keep going and keep improving.

The Sea Robbers are sitting at the top of the league with a six-point lead with three games to the end.

“We can see that it’s close but we also need to focus on the next match,” Maela added.

Pirates next take on Maritzburg United away at Harry Gwala on 24 April.
