Super Eagles defender happy with draw against Real Madrid

16 Apr 2019, 11:30

Super Eagles defender Kenneth Omeruo gave his best for CD Leganes in the La Liga tie against Real Madrid on Monday night.

The final outcome of the game was a 1-1 draw, and the Nigerian is proud of himself and teammates.

“We are pleased to pick a point than to lose at home,” he told Scorenigeria.

“It was a very tough game that was full of action.

“We actually wanted to win the game because we prepare very well for the match, but it ended in a draw.”

It was Omeruo’s first game after he missed the last three matches through suspension and then injury.

He said matches against top-profile teams like Real can only be good for his career.

"Playing top games like this is good for me,” he said.

“I have played against Barcelona, Real Madrid, Atletico Madrid, Valencia all this season which is good for me as a professional who is playing his first season in top Spanish league.

“It has been a great season so far.”

The result lifted Omeruo’s club to 11th on the table with 41 points from 32 matches.
