Mathare United came from two goals down to hold hosts Vihiga United to a 2-2 draw in a Kenyan Premier League clash staged at the Bukhungu Stadium-Mumias on Sunday 21 April.
Mathare came into the game having won only one of their last five games and they didn’t do themselves any favors when Lawrence Luganda opened the scoring for Vihiga United in the eighth minute with a delightful freekick from the edge of the box for a 1-0 half time lead.
Dennis Wafula was to double the hosts lead in the 67th minute after playing a quick give and go with Amos Kigadi before beating Johnstone Omurwa for pace, sidestepping keeper Allan Owiny before slotting into an empty net.
Mathare was not giving up hope yet and pulled a goal back through Cliff Nyakeya in the 81st minute before Omurwa finding the bottom right corner of the net in stoppage time after pulling a low drive for a share of spoils.
Posta Rangers 2-0 Zoo Kericho
Earlier at the Kenyatta Stadium-Machakos, Posta Rangers eased their relegation woes with a 2-0 win over visiting Zoo Kericho.
The win sees Rangers move four points clear off Zoo whoa re second from last with Mount Kenya remaining rooted at the bottom of the log.
In another match of the day, Sofapaka had Umaru Kasumba to thank as his goal proved the difference in their clash agaisnt Sony Sugar FC.
