Kakamega Homeboyz head coach, Nicholas Muyoti has backed his skipper, Allan Wanga to make the final Harambee Stars squad for the 2019 African Cup of Nations.
Wanga has had an impressive campaign so far and currently leads the top scorer's charts with 16 goals, tied with Sofapaka forward Umaru Kasumba. The Kenyan international was on hand to score a penalty in the 3-0 demolition of Kariobangi Sharks over the weekend. Wanga featured once in the qualifiers, coming on as a late sub for Michael Olunga in the 3-0 win over Ethiopia at home.
Muyoti believes that Wanga still has something to offer for the national team ahead of the continental showpiece, "He does deserve a call up in the team that is going to represent Kenya because he has been consistent and he has been very disciplined. He is a big influence to my players, so I believe if he carries it to the national team I think it going to be very positive and they will perform better with him."
The former Thika United manager also hailed the impact Wanga has had in his squad, "He is very experienced and his relationship with other players is also very good because if you see the ambiance, the cohesion and the relationship he has with the rest of the players it is very good and you will see they will always give him the support because of his influence and he is a big encouragement to the young players."
