Suarez blasts teammates after Liverpool defeat

Liverpool striker Luis Suarez has blasted his teammates after the embarrassing 4-0 defeat to Liverpool in the Champions League second leg at Anfield.

Barcelona took to the pitch at the Merseyside club leading 3-0 from the first leg in Spain but left with nothing to show of their efforts, after being tossed out 4-3 on aggregate.

Speaking after the match, Suarez chose to criticise the team, saying they need to do better in matches of such magnitude.

"We are very sad, very hurt. It’s time to do a lot of self-criticism in our team, it is the second time that this has happened,"

"We cannot commit the same mistake two years in a row, we have to think about many things and must be ourselves, tell us things in the face, things that we’ve done wrong,"

"It’s not possible that in one minute we concede two goals. Their fourth goal? We looked like a youth team there,"

Suarez opened the scoring for Barcelona a week ago at the Camp Nou, but could not find a way past the Liverpool defence at Anfield.

The defeat saw Barcelona's hopes of lifting a treble go up in smoke, and will now have to concentrate on two titles; the Laliga and the King's Cup.
