Race for Golden Boot: Wanga leading the battle after goal against Nzoia

Kakamega Homeboyz striker Allan Wanga continued his hunt for the Golden Boot after he scored his side's second goal against Nzoia Sugar in a 2-0 victory on Thursday.

The veteran striker scored in the 34th minute, adding to  David Okoth’s 14th-minute opener in a match they dominated for long spells.

His goal took his tally to 17 for the season, pulling one clear ahead of Umaru Kasumbu, his closest challenger and two ahead of Ulinzi's Enosh Ochieng

Wanga is in the hunt for his second Kenya Premier League Golden Boot, having won the prize in 2007 with Tusker FC when he scored 23 goals.

The win, which was a second in a row, saw Homeboyz tighten their grip on fourth spot with 48 points,  four behind Bandari FC.

Wanga has been in good form this season, leading to coach Sebastien Migne naming him in the Harambee Stars squad.

He is expected to make the final squad for the Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco in June.
