Police FC head coach to lead Uganda Cranes ahead of COSAFA

Police FC coach Abdallah Mubiru has been chosen to handle the Uganda Cranes team ahead of the COSAFA tournament in South Africa.

The Cranes will be a guest team at the tournament that kicks off on May 25 although they will start their campaign at the quarterfinals against Lesotho.

According to Kawowo Sports, Mubiru will be assisted by KCCA assistant coach Morley Byekwaso, former Cranes skipper Geoffrey Massa will be the team manager while Saddiq Wasswa, the goalkeeping coach.

A 20-man squad was summoned by coach Sebastien Desabre for the competition and starts training on May 15 at Lugogo.

The tournament timing coincides with the timing of the senior team camp in the United Arab Emirates which starts on May 20 and thus another technical team was required to help out Desabre.

Mubiru will work with the 20 players who will later be joined by those dropped from the preliminary Afcon squad
