English-born attacker Arvin Appiah has officially been handed a call-up to represent England U18s in an 8-nations tournament scheduled to start in the next week.
The Nottingham Forest youngster has proven worthy of the call up after being impressive for the club's youth side and shown some great improvement this season.
Ahead of the 8 nations tournament being organized for under-18s, head coach for the young Lions, Neil Dewsnip has named Appiah in his squad. The player made seven appearances for Forest this season, five of which have come under current manager Martin O'Neill.
The 18-year-old started the season as a regular for the club's under-23s and has already represented England at U18 level as well as at the under-19s, under-17s, and under-16s level.
Speaking in an interview with the local media, England's under-18s manager, Neil Dewsnip shared, “We’re pleased with the squad we have for this tournament. We have some new players with us in Rowan McDonald, Ellis Simms and Harvey White while everyone else has been with us during the season”.
“We’ve worked with around 35 players this year as at this age group we’re looking to continue developing our established England youth players, but also looking to find some emerging talent or late developers”.
“We’ve never taken part in this tournament before, it will be quite demanding as we have four games in a short amount of time, but we’re intending to use all players and it will be a great experience for them”.
The young Lions have been drawn in a group with host nation Slovakia, together with Mexico and Russia in the first round.
