Scotland to offer Jed Steer international call-up
Scotland are reportedly considering approaching Aston Villa goalkeeper Jed Steer in hopes of the player switching his international allegiance.
The 26-year-old has been an outstanding player for Dean Smith's side this season having saved two penalties in Villa's playoff semifinal victory over West Bromwich Albion.
Steer's top performances have attracted the Scotland Football Association who have been monitoring him for most of the season.
Steer who has been capped by England from Under-16s to U19s is also eligible to play for Scotland — and Hampden chiefs are ready to contact him, report The Sun.
Allan McGregor retired from international duty recently so Celtic’s Scott Bain was handed the starting jersey om the latest round of internationals.
The in-form stopper has seen his claret and blue career finally reach lift-off this season despite five previous years of struggle.
He’s the second-longest serving player at the club and was set to leave this summer before Villa recalled him from a loan spell at Charlton and extended his deal by another year.
