Harambee Stars defender Musa Mohammed has urged fans to root for the national team as they prepare to take on the rest of the continent in the 2019 African Cup of Nations next month.

Mohammed was one of the three foreign-based players to have attended Stars first training session as they prepare for AFCON and the Nkana FC defender while thanking the fans for the support they have accorded the team recently called the participation of Kenya in the showpiece as a good feeling.

“It’s a good feeling (to be part of AFCON) and it’s a motivation and opportunity to Kenyan players not only for those who will play but for those in the entire nation.

"It is a good opportunity and chance for every player (to show what they can do). We want to thank the fans for their continued support and we request them for their support during this period,” Musa said after training.

Mohammed is one of the many defenders called up by head coach Migne for the showpiece with his preferred centre back position being one of the most competitive in the team.

In central defence, apart from Musa, Migne has Maritzburg United’s Brian Onyango, Zesco United’s David Owino, Gor Mahia’s Joash Onyango and Kenya U23 captain Joseph Okumu.
