Vihiga United relegated as Zoo wins five-goal thriller against Kakamega Homeboyz

Vihiga United have been relegated from the Kenya Premier League, after suffering a 2-1 home defeat against Western Stima at the Bukhungu Stadium on Sunday evening.

Vihiga needed to win the match and hope for a favorable result in the match between Zoo Kericho and Kakamega Homeboyz to have any hope of remaining in the league but were undone as the Sugarmen scored two late goals to condemn them to the defeat.

They now join Mount Kenya United who were relegated last week and are the only two sides that will move to the National Super League.

Goals galore in Kericho

In Kericho, hosts Zoo ran out 3-2 winners against Kakamega Homeboyz, in a thoroughly entertaining fixture.

Kakamega Homeboyz got off to a dream start after taking the lead inside three minutes, after a defensive mix-up on the home side.

Both teams continued threatening as they went all-out for the kill butmissed a couple of scoring chances.

It was the home team however that got lucky before the break, sustained pressure leading to Homeboyz conceding a penalty in the 43rd minute, which was converted by Chetambe to level scores going into the break.

The hosts then took the lead for the first time in the match five minutes after the restart thorough Anami, who scored from a corner kick.

Homeboyz equalized eight minutes later after a foul on Wanga at the edge of the box led to a wonderful freekick goal with Elungat beaten in goal.

The heavens opened and the grounds were slippery, and with 10 minutes to go, Anami grabbed his second of the day to give Zoo the all-important goal and three points.

Kariobangi vs Mt. Kenya United

At the Moi Kasarani Stadium, Kariobangi Sharks drubbed relegated Mount Kenya United 3-0 to move to 10th on the log.

Juma opened the scoring for Sharks in the 63rd minute and extended the lead two minutes later when Julius Masaba tucked in from close range.

Eric Kapaito came off the bench to grab the third for Sharks in the 85th minute, with Mt. Kenya unable to mount any serious challenge.
