Kakamega Homeboyz striker Allan Wanga belives Harambee Stars has a squad able to compete in the 2019 African Cup of Nations.
Wanga being one of the strikers that has received a nod in the Sebastien Migne squad while speaking after the team’s Tuesday session, said the mixture of youth and experience will be key for the team as they take the best teams the continent has on offer.
“It is a good group mixed with experience and young players. The key thing is most of us were in the qualification process so there is a strong cohesion in the team. It’s a big stage but I believe we can match the teams we will be facing,” Wanga said.
On his call up, Wanga said its never easy to make the cut to the national team and urged those who were unlucky in the selection to work hard each day.
“I'm happy about the call-up and looking forward to the showpiece. You have to work hard to get such chances and it is something I have been doing the entire season. Its an honour I can’t take lightly because there are so many good players in the country. For those who were unlucky I can just encourage them to continue working and not to relent,” Wanga added.
Wanga who will hope he can grab the KPL golden boot this season will hope that he can assist the national team in a department that has Michael Olunga and Masud Juma.
