KPL Final Day: Walkover for Ulinzi as Wanga emerges the best goalscorer
Mount Kenya United dished another walkover to send Ulinzi Stars plans in a disarray on the final day of the Kenyan Premier League (KPL) 2018/19 season.
United had arrived for the game late and after asking to be given a little time to have a light lunch, they were to re-emerge with red uniforms; the same colour as hosts Ulinzi Stars.
The team who claimed that they had only travelled with one set of uniform were to be given another half an hour to find an alternative uniform and after failing to find a solution in the given minutes, the referee handed hosts Ulinzi the points.
Ulinzi had hoped seen the tie as a perfect clash to enable their top scorer Enosh Ochieng bag the much-needed golden boot with the striker having bagged 17 goals the entire season, one short of leading scorer Allan Wanga of Kakamega Homeboyz.
At the Mbaraki Sports Club, Allan Wanga was crowed this season top goal scorer despite failing to find the net against Sofapaka.
Stephen Waruru brace was all Sofapaka needed to down Wanga’s Homeboyz with Umaru Kasumba, who was on the Sofapaka side being Wanga’s close challenger heading into the final game.
Posta Rangers will be the team to participate in the playoffs after coming 16th; this coming after their loss to Tusker FC on the day.
