Gor Mahia head coach Hassan Oktay has jetted back in the country from his holiday as the team begins its preseason ahead of the new campaign.
In a post on their official social media handles, Gor confirmed the arrival of Oktay who was welcomed by club chairman Mr. Ambrose Rachier with another post showing a section of their players in training at the Nairobi’s Camp Toyoyo.
Oktay first assignment in the new campaign will be in the CECAFA Kagame Cup which is slated to commence in Kigali-Rwanda from July 7-21.
The Kenyan champions are in Group D in the tournament and will have DRS’s Motema Pembe, Zanzibar’s KMKM and Djibouti’s AS Ports as their opponents in the group.
The same tournament has next season’s Kenya representatives in the CAF Confederations Cup Bandari FC who find themselves in Group B together with defending champions Azam FC, Rwanda’s Muhura FC and Uganda’s KCCA FC.
The two-week tournament will see Group A and Group C matches played in Kigali while Group B will be in Huye District as Umuganda Stadium, in Rubavu District host Group D matches.
The tournament winner will take home $30,000 (Ksh 3.05million) as runners up bag $20,000 ( Ksh 2.04million) while second runners up will receive $10,000 (Ksh 1.02million) in cash prize.
