Wazito FC snaps up Kariobangi Sharks keeper
Kenyan Premier League newbies Wazito FC have completed the signing of Kariobangi Sharks keeper Gad Mathews for an undisclosed period.
Mathews joins Sony Sugar duo of goalkeeper Kevin Omondi and attacker Derick Otanga as the new faces at the club.
On their official unveiling, Otanga who netted 13 goals last season told the club’s website: “The journey is going to be difficult but lifting the trophy will be fantastic and I hope we achieve that glorious fete.”
“I like the hard work Christiano Ronaldo puts on the pitch and is something I try to learn from every day. I am going for the golden boot this season.”
Keeper Omondi who has been superb for Sony Sugar between the sticks in the past two seasons is hoping for an injury-free season so that he can always be fit to ensure the team achieves the season’s target according to information on the website.
The shot-stopper started playing competitively in 2014 with Nairobi City Stars and has Spanish keeper Iker Casillas and Germany’s Michael Neuer as his inspiration.
Commenting on the recruitment, Sporting Director Solomon Alubala said he is excited to secure the signatures and knows they fit well in the club’s ambitions.
The club promised to make more announcement in regard to other new faces in due course.
