Transfer: Guardiola gives update on Leroy Sane
Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola did not mince word when he gave an update about forward Leroy Sane.
The Germany international was disappointed at his reduced game time at City last season and has been linked with a move to Bundesliga side Bayern Munich.
Sane was a second-half substitute in the 4-1 win against West Ham, and Guardiola was asked after the game if he was sure he would be staying at the club next season, Pep said he only wanted happy players.
"The club makes him an offer last year so I said many times. We want people here to be happy. We are going to help him to be the best, we know his potential and what his level is. He has a special quality difficult to find around the world." Manchester Evening News reports.
"He knows, they all know, it's difficult because of the quality we have. But, at the same time I spoke to the club 10 times I want people here to be happy if they don't want, they go. The desire to have him to be with us is always there."
Sane was controversially dropped from the Germany squad to the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia by coach Joachim Low.
That incident, coupled with less playing time at City, has left Sane obviously unhappy. He is now seeking another club where he can get more playing time.
