🔵✌🏾Official: City to host Chiefs at Cape Town Stadium

Cape Town City boss chairman John Comitis has confirmed that the Kaizer Chiefs game will be at the Cape Town Stadium.

Following the stadium’s unavailability since the start of the season, which led City to use the Athlone Stadium, the club have now verified the venue is ready and open to welcome Chiefs next Tuesday 27 August.

“The Chiefs match will definitely be played at Cape Town Stadium‚” Comitis told TimesLIVE after this morning’s final inspection.

The match is set for a 19:30 kick off where the Soweto giants are expected to pull up to 30 000 spectators to the 55 000 capacity venue.

UPDATE: The latest news on this story has revealed that the PSL later arrived at the stadium to do a pitch inspection and have unfortunately ruled against hosting the match at Cape Town Stadium. The match has now been moved to the Newlands Stadium.
