Nigeria U-20 team beat their counterpart from Mali 5-4 on penalties to qualify for the final of the All Africa Games men's football event.
After a barren score at the end of regulation time, both teams missed their first three penalties before Nigeria shot ahead in the marathon shootout.
The two teams kept scoring until Nigeria goalkeeper Detan Ogundare, who have made three saves earlier, stopped Mali's last kick.
The Paul Aigbogun-tutored side had the chance to wrap up things in 90 minutes when Success Makanjuola was fouled by Traore in the danger area and the ref pointed for a penalty.
But the resultant penalty was blown away by captain Ibrahim Abubakar just after the half-hour mark.
Both Nigeria's men and women's football teams have now qualified for the final.
The Flying Eagles will be up against the winner of the second semi final between Senegal and Burkina Faso.
It is the first time that Nigeria will reach the final of the men’s football tournament of the African Games since losing the gold medal match to Cameroon inside the National Stadium Complex, Abuja in 2003.
