Tonight is the start of the 2019/20 UEFA Champions League. Futaa looks at Africa’s top goalscorers in the tournament’s history.

Anyone to catch Didier Drogba?

The Ivory Coast and former Chelsea striker Drogba remains the top dog. Samuel Eto’o second place is still far ahead of Mohamed Salah in third place.

Senegal’s superstar and Salah’s Liverpool teammate, Sadio Mane, is set to race with Salah to break Drogba’s 44-goal tally. Mane currently lies eight and six goals shy of Salah’s 22.

Another record-chaser is Arsenal’s Pierre Emmerick-Aubameyang. The Gabonese international with 15 goals, will sadly not feature in this season’s campaign after the Gunners failed to qualify.

The lists lower tire also includes some of Africa’s special names. There are the likes of Togo’s Emmanuel Adebayor and Cameroon’s Vincent Aboubakar.
