Gor Mahia head coach Steven Polack has revealed that dropping David Mapigano for Fredrick Odhiambo in the second leg against USM Alger was a collective decision by the coaching staff.
Mapigano came under harsh criticism for the nature of goals he conceded in the 4-1 loss to USM Alger in Algeria in a performance that saw him give away a soft penalty. Despite being between the sticks for the league clash against KCB, Mapigano was dropped for the second leg against USM Alger.
Speaking after the 2-0 loss to USM Alger, Polack explained his decision to start with Fredrick Odhiambo in place of Mapigano, "That's something that we spoke about with the coaching staff and they gave me their opinion and of course, I made the decision and I played him (Fredrick), that's all."
Odhiambo has produced some fine performances in the Confederations Cup, especially against USM Alger back in 2018 when he saved a penalty despite ending the game in a 2-1 loss.
