AC Milan sack coach Giampaolo

Italian giant’s AC Milan has sacked head coach Marco Giampaolo just after overseeing seven games.

A statement on the club’s portal noted: “AC Milan announces it has relieved Mr Marco Giampaolo from his position as coach of the First Team. The Club is grateful to Marco for the work carried out and wishes him all the best to come in his professional career.”

Giampaolo was chosen by Milan to replace Genaro Gatusso at the start of the season after an impressive outing with Empoli and Sampdoria in recent years.

But his time there has been short-lived, with the Rossoneri announcing that the club has decided to part ways after a poor start to the season.

Milan has won just three and lost the rest of their opening seven games of the Serie A season with Giampaolo sacking coming just days after overseeing a 2-1 win over Genoa before the international break.

He is expected to be replaced in the San Siro hot seat by Stefano Pioli.
