Amakhosi meet Kabo Yellow in Soweto today, and it’s expected to be a very heated battle.
This friendly game would have been just another fairly charged meeting between Chiefs and Sundowns - but not until the two coaches appeared on a sports TV programme this week.
Pitso’s prior comments about Chiefs rubbed the club and his opposite number Middendorp the wrong way.
Some of Mosimane’s comments last week:
“Referees always gives Chiefs penalties, why can’t Sundowns get some too?”
“Chiefs are always rested, they don’t play in the Africa. They are the league favourites. They have no excuses.”
The above comments turned out to be statements that did not pass Middedorp without effect. The two coach’s guest appearance on SoccerZone saw the German coach make a few references in reply...
“He (Mosimane) is making a lot of noise recently and I don’t believe him.”
“He is making a lot of noise and not about his own team but about other teams what it says to you, I think there must be a little bit of respect or fear. I talk about my players, my team and that’s it. I don’t have to lead or go into referee’s decisions about what is right. Why are you doing this when you are the champion of the PSL.”
“I am happy the heard the noise we don’t feel sorry for anybody just because we are the champions of last year or not. He had said it himself that other teams can benefit others don’t, why can’t I highlight it.”
“You know I will say it against any team in the PSL whether you like it or not. Humour or no humour you will feel that I am around.”

The game is set for a 16:00 kick off from the FNB Stadium.
We hope there won’t be too many flying tackles.
