πŸ† A breakdown of the 30 Ballon d'Or shortlisted players according to the top European Leagues

The Premier League is strongly represented on the 30-man shortlist, with exactly half of the candidates plying their trade in the English top-flight.

🗺 Breakdown by Euro League

Interestingly, although Premier League players dominate the 30-strong shortlist for the prestigious award, the last time a player from the English top-flight won the Ballon d'Or was in 2008 when Cristiano Ronaldo was still a Manchester United player.

Since then, Ronaldo and Lionel Messi have hogged the award and made sure that each and every winner since 2009 was a player from Spain's LaLiga, including current holder Luka Modric.
