Bandari defender Bernard Odhiambo is delighted to resume training following an injury layoff.
Odhiambo has been on the sidelines for a sometime after he picked up an ACL tear back in April 2019 during Bandari's 2-0 loss to Sony Sugar. The former Gor Mahia defender has now resumed full training but he says he won't be taking part during the first leg campaign of the Kenyan Premier League as he targets to be fully fit. He featured for 90 minutes on Sunday during Mashujaa Cup final, helping Bandari beat Spaki Youth 5-1 on Sunday. Speaking to Futaa.com, Odhiambo has revealed that he is happy to be back and he will fight back to secure a starting role under Bernard Mwalala.
"I really feel good to be back after a long time, times an injury can drag someone behind. I will pick from where I left, it’s all about hard work and I am sure I will be in a good form," he said.
"I am targeting to resume full play in the second leg and for now, I will start keeping fit, try to play a number friendlies to get back to full fitness. Once the second leg is over I will start fighting for a starting role."
"For now, the competition is very high at the back but I am not worried at all. I will put more effort and am sure I will manage to get a role in the starting XI."
