πŸ‡ΏπŸ‡² πŸ‡©πŸ‡Ώ πŸ‡ΏπŸ‡Ό Kangwa returns but Kalaba and Mweene miss out as Chiyangi names team for back to back AFCON qualifiers

Zambia national team caretaker coach Aggrey Chiyangi has named a 21-member squad for the back-to-back Cameroon 2021 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Algeria and Zimbabwe.

Chiyangi has handed Russian based striker Evans Kangwa a call up who returns to the Chipolopolo set up after a long absence. 2012 Africa Cup of Nations winning duo of Nathan Sinkala and Stophila Sunzu who are on the books of TP Mazembe and FC Metz respectively have also been recalled after being left out of the tour of West Africa.

MWEENE, KALABA LEFT OUT

Chiyangi has however left out former captain Rainford Kalaba and long-serving first-choice goalkeeper Kennedy Mweene. Chiyangi has opted Zanaco's Toaster Nsabata, COSAFA Cup golden glove winner Sebastian Mwange and Polokwane City goal minder Mwenya Cyril Chibwe in the goalkeeping department.

Kalaba has failed to make the cut despite the absence of U23 national team wingers in Edward Chilufya, Fashion Sakala and Lameck Banda who have a tournament of their own during that same period.

The local players will regroup in Lusaka on Sunday with foreign-based players expected to join during the requisite FIFA window that runs from November 11-19.

The Copper Bullets will be away to Algeria on November 14th before hosting the Warriors of Zimbabwe on November 19th.
