Barcelona superstar Lionel Messi equaled Cristiano Ronaldo’s record for Laliga hat-tricks after their Saturday 4-1 win over Celta Vigo.
The Argentina captain bagged three goals as Barcelona came back to winning ways following their last week's loss to Levante and being held to a draw in their midweek UEFA Champions League tie against Sparta Prague.
The feat saw him bag his 34th treble in Spain's top tier the same as Ronaldo who had a shorter stint in Spain after outings with Sporting CP and Manchester United before.
The Portuguese spent nine seasons at Madrid and became the club's record LaLiga hat-trick scorer ahead of Alfredo Di Stefano (22) and Ferenc Puskas (12).
Messi is in his 16th campaign as a first-team player at Barcelona and, with eight goals in seven LaLiga games so far this season appears likely to eclipse Ronaldo's record as he is anticipated to spend the better part of his career at Camp Nou.
