The Kenyan Premier League week served us with some mouthwatering encounters with the Mashemeji Derby between arch-rivals Gor Mahia and AFC Leopards being the pick of the bunch.
Leopards had arrived in the game buoyed by a decent form that saw them sit third on the league log, this coupled with Gor Mahia midweek loss to Mathare United but things were different in the derby.
After a dominant first half, Leopards were to rue the missed chances with Gor Mahia putting four goals past them in the second half; Ivory Coast striker Gislein Yikpe being the star man after bagging a brace.
As Gor Mahia asserted their dominance in the local scene-the team sitting top of the log with 18 points after playing two games less than their close rivals-Kisumu All-Stars picked their first win of the season; Kariobangi Sharks the team left to suffer.
Sharks Troubles Continue
The sorry form from Sharks has seen the William Muluya coached charges pick one win in their nine games and are now just a point above their opponents on Saturday. They have drawn four and lost the other four games.
Bandari FC once again stuttered when they visited Ulinzi Stars at Nakuru’s Afraha Stadium. The team had been rocked by rumors that they were about to lose their coach to Yanga SC of Tanzania and many feel they have not settled yet since they were ousted from the CAF Confederations Cup by Guinea’s Horoya AC.
Kakamega Homeboyz climbed to second on the log following their 2-0 over Western Stima as Sofapaka, without coach Alves Divaldo once reminded Wazito FC that they still had a long way to go to have a formidable team after recording a 2-1 win over the Melis Medo side.
