Pep Guardiola reacts to Jose Mourinho being appointed new Tottenham Hotspur manager

After being appointed the new Tottenham Hotspur manager, Manchester City coach Pep Guardiola has lauded Jose Mourinho as an 'incredible' manager.

Mauricio Pochettino was axed as Spurs manager on Tuesday after five and half years at the club, guiding the North Londoners to the UEFA Champions League final last season.

Mourinho has been without a managerial job since he was sacked by Manchester United last December after a poor start to the season.

Guardiola who was known for his fiery relationship with Mourinho during their LaLiga days was confident the Portuguese manager will succeed at Spurs, "You know him better than me. He was many years here in different clubs. Welcome back.

"An incredible manager and I’m pretty sure he’ll do a good job. I was a little surprised with Mauricio because he had done an incredible job and the club was better.

"Always the managers when they leave it is to know if the club and team are better than when they take over and I think it happened but decisions are made and there is nothing else to say."
