Talk of Arsenal scooping Mikel Artel to replace Unai Emery at the Emirates Stadium has reached Pep Guardiola.
Guardiola is currently assisted by Arteta at Manchester City and possibilities of his number two moving to Arsenal have increased after another dismal result for Arsenal last weekend.
While Guardiola is backing Arteta to succeed in management in the future, the Spaniard has revealed that losing his number two would be a major blow.
"Of course he will be manager sooner or later. Now we will see in the future what will happen," Guardiola said via the Manchester Evening News.
"I would like him honestly to stay with us as long as possible. Manchester City have incredible value as a person to work for the future. But personal life is personal life, professional desires are professional.”
"Everyone, not just me, is more than satisfied to have him here."
Guardiola further highlighted the qualities that set up Arteta to lead a successful managerial career. According to Pep, Arteta not only has the past advantage of playing as a defensive midfielder where a footballer is afforded an opportunity to study the game, Arteta additionally has the personal qualities for a number one.
"He was an incredible player. Normally the holding midfielder have a vision.”
"It is an incredible lesson in your career to learn what happened, you don’t need to go to school. He is an incredible human being and work ethic. I said after a few months, this guy will be a manager. He behaves like a manager,” concluded Guardiola.
