Calm down, Gunners, Lucas Torreira is going nowhere!
According to The Daily Star, Arsenal will ‘gun down’ whatever offer Napoli or any other team bring to the table, concerning midfielder Lucas Torreira. Napoli recently tabled a £2.5m loan deal with an option to complete a permanent £22.5m transfer in the summer of 2021, for the Uruguayan.
The 23-year-old has started his side’s last three Premier League games under caretaker Freddie Ljungberg after being in and out of former manager Unai Emery's squad because of his playing position. Emery had wanted to convert the holding midfielder into a more offensively-minded one.
Torreira remains under contract until 2023 and is not currently agitating for a move despite whispers he has never fully settled in north London.
AC Milan and Atletico Madrid have both made enquiries about Torreira in the past but the player insisted he was happy at Arsenal last summer. But it seems that has not stopped Napoli.
The midfielder has played 71 times for Arsenal, scoring four goals and creating five more.
