Nkana returned to winning ways this afternoon as they beat Nkwazi 1-0 to move up to the fourth place.
Nkana came into the match on the back of a heavy derby defeat at the hands of arch-rivals, Power Dynamos and were wounded and looking to collect maximum points.
It was, however, the visitors who started strong with Emmanuel Chabula giving the Nkana defense a lot of problems.
Nkana got their breakthrough however after 22 minutes when Idris Ilunga Mbombo was brought down in the box, Shadreck Musonda stepped up and sent Charles Muntanga the wrong way to put Nkana in the lead.
The match went to the break with Nkana leading 1-0. In the second half Nkana comes back a more determined side and controlled play from the restart.
Idriss Ilunga Mbombo nearly scored but Charles Muntanga was alert to deny the Congolese forward his tenth league goal. Kelvin Mubanga thought he had doubled the lead when he combined well with Substitute Ronald Kampamba and scored but the officials signaled for off-side.
RED CARD CONTROVERSY
Drama erupted minutes to full time after referee Derrick Kafuli wrongly awarded Harun Shakava a red card after what he thought was a second yellow card when it Musa Mohammed with a yellow card earlier on in the match.
Kafuli reversed the card the red card for Nkana to finish the match with eleven men, Holding on to win 1-0.
The win takes Nkana to fourth place while Nkwazi now makes it ten games without a win or scoring a single goal.
In Ndola, James Chamanga scored a late strike to rescue a point for Red Arrows who held Forest Rangers to a 1-1 draw.
