Ugandan Premier League side SC Villa has insisted that Gavin Kizito is still their player despite the defender reportedly leaving the country for trials in Dubai.
The Uganda Hippos captain was last seen at St. Mary's Kitende on Friday last week in the company of his father as the club beat Vipers SC 1-0. He reportedly flew out of Uganda later that day to Dubai for trials at an unnamed academy.
However, the SC Villa chief executive Shawn Mubiru has been quoted by Ugandan media as saying that the player is still validly registered with the club.
He revealed that the Kizito signed a three-year contract with the club in 2019. The player's father represented him as he was still a minor by then. He turned 18 on Tuesday last week and was required to sign a new contract with Villa.
Reports indicate that Kizito is chasing his dream to play in the English Premier League through the Belgium route. If successful in the Dubai trials, he is expected to join a Belgian side and after three years he will qualify to play in England on European Union residency rules.
