Kenya National team goalkeeper Ian Otieno has joined Zambia Super League defending Champions, Zesco United Futaa Zambia understands.
Otieno was in talks with Sensational Zanaco on a possible switch to Sunset Stadium from Red Arrows but Zesco United hijacked the move as they have reportedly offered him better conditions.
Otieno's switch to Zanaco was actually almost complete with Red Arrows even confirming the talks in a press statement made available to Futaa Zambia two weeks ago.
"Red Arrows Football Club has concluded talks with Zanaco Football Club on the transfer of goalkeeper Ian Otieno. The Club would like to thank the Kenyan International goal custodian for the services rendered to Arrows and wishes him the best of luck at his new Club."
The club is yet to officially confirm the development but they are expected to do so in the coming days.
The former AFC Leopards and Posta Rangers goalkeeper joined Lusaka-based Red Arrows in February 2018 following impressive displays in the Kenyan league.
At Arrows, he fought his way to the first choice goalkeeper position and is now regarded as one of the top three goalminders in the MTN/FAZ Super League. His arrival at Zesco United is a big boost for the Ndola based outfit who are looking for an immediate replacement for Jacob Banda.
