Zambia Super League side, Zesco United have signed Kenyan striker John Mark Makwata, Futaa Zambia understands.

This will be Makwata's second stint in Zambia having played for Buildcon between March 2017 and August 2018.

Makwata who is on the books of AFC Leopards was recently described as a ‘priceless asset’, according to Leopards' chairman Dan Shikanda and vowed that the player was not for sale.

“Yes we have financial problems, but we are not looking to sell him. Like the rest of the players who have been understanding, we are determined to keep this team together. This is why we are calling upon all AFC Leopards fans and well-wishers to get behind the team by paying their membership and subscription fees,” Shikanda told Standardmedia.co.ke

However, it seems the Zambia Super League defending Champions tabled a good enough offer for the 2017 Kenyan Premier League top goalscorer. The club is expected to announce the acquisition later today.

Makwata is the leading top goalscorer of the current KPL season with 13 goals and has four assists to his credit in 16 matches.
