Former Arsenal star Serge Gnabry marks a special milestone at Bayern Munich

Germany international Serge Gnabry on Sunday marked his 50th appearance for Bayern Munich in Bundesliga with a brace against FC Koln as defending champions registered an easy 4-1 away win.

Robert Lewandowski, Kingsley Coman and Serge Gnabry handed Bayern a comfortable three-goal lead early in the game. Gnabry rounded off his brace midway through the second half before Mark Uth scored a consolation goal for the Rhineland outfit.

The brace was the crowning glory of Gnabry's powerful performance on the occasion of a special milestone. The 24-year-old made his 50th Bundesliga appearance for the record champions after joining from Werder Bremen in 2017.

Player of the season

This momentous match seemed to inspire the forward, as he added his name to the scoresheet in just the 12th minute with a firm drive for Bayern’s third goal. Gnabry now has ten goals plus assists in the last 11 Bundesliga matches (7 goals, 3 assists).

Gnabry started his career in England with Arsenal in the Premier League, making his professional debut in September 2012. He also had a brief spell on loan with West Bromwich Albion before moving back to Germany to join Werder Bremen in 2016. In 2017, he signed for Bayern Munich before being loaned to 1899 Hoffenheim for the 2017–18 season. In 2018–19, his first season with Bayern Munich, he won the Bundesliga title and was named their Player of the Season.

After appearing for Germany at various youth levels, Gnabry made his senior international debut in November 2016 in a 2018 FIFA World Cup qualification match against San Marino. He scored a hat-trick in the 8–0 win.
