Former Gor Mahia striker Francis Afriie has caused a stir in Botswana by storming off the field after head coach Frank Nuttal failed to get him from the bench in a league match on Sunday.
Afriyie had started the game on the bench and expected to be given some playing time in Township Rollers tie against Prisons XI but the Ghanaian couldn’t hold on when Nuttal made all his substitution without considering him.
In a video shared by Botswana’s Killerpass, the player can be seen walking off the pitch and outside the stadium to express his frustration-a move that should hand him in a slot in Nuttal’s wrong books.
The striker though isn’t new to controversies as it is claimed that he once slapped a medical team member during his time at Gor Mahia after he was reported to the head coach that he wasn’t doing the required exercise his other teammates were doing.
Apart from that, it is believed that he had warned head coach Steve Pollack to play him or else he was going to rough him up.
He left Gor Mahia in January this year after going AWOL only to report that he was on holiday on his Facebook page; the same month he was confirmed at Rollers on a two and a half year deal.
