Spanish side Valencia opens academy in Morocco

Spanish first division side Valencia CF  on Wednesday launched a football academy in Marrakech, Morocco, their first-ever in Africa.

The LaLiga side follows a well-beaten path as other European football clubs in opening football academies in the North African nation.

The academy was developed in partnership with sports marketing firm DK-Pro Sports. It will be based at the Grand Stade de Marrakech and will have five natural grass pitches.

The Spanish club says that it aims to provide high quality theoretical and practical training for the benefit of professional football in Morocco. They also stated that the initiative promotes social responsibility as well as having a positive impact on the Moroccan society.

These sentiments were echoed by the club's academy boss Luis Martinez who said that they will use the methods used at Valencia to train youngsters at the academy.

"As a Club, we want to help the young to develop according to the Valencia CF methodology," he added,

Other European clubs that have academies in Morocco include Arsenal, Barcelona, AC Milan and Paris St Germain.
