Moroccan side Hassania Agadir recorded the biggest score with a 5-0 victory over Libya's El-Nasr Benghazi in the CAF Confederation Cup quarterfinal matches played on Sunday.
In other last-8 match ups, Enyimba were held to a one-all draw by visiting Horoya while Pyramids thrashed Zanaco 3-0 as RS Berkane forced a 2-2 draw with Egypt's Al Masry.
Agadir were too strong for El Nasr in the match played at Petro Sport Stadium in Cairo. Karim El Berkaoui struck a hat-trick with Malick Cisse adding a late brace to seal the victory. The three-goal haul saw El Berkaoui take his tournament tally to seven.
In Lusaka, visiting Pyramids made a bold step towards securing a semi-final ticket after thrashing hosts Zanaco 3-0 at National Heroes Stadium. Defender Ali Gabr broke the deadlock for Pyramids after 18 minutes, and Mohamed Farouk doubled the visitors’ tally six minutes later. Skipper Abdullah Elsaid scored from the spot after 68 minutes as Pyramids are all but assured of a place in the semifinals.
Elsewhere, Boniface Haba scored a vital goal for Guinean side Horoya AC as they earned a crucial 1-1 draw away at Enyimba in Aba, Nigeria. Augustine Oladapo had given the home side a first-half lead with his third goal of the tournament, but Haba struck back with 20 minutes left for a significant away goal.
In the last match of the night, veteran Mouhssine Iajour struck twice in between Al Masry’s goals as Moroccan outfit RS Berkane grabbed a 2-2 draw away to Egyptian side Al Masry at the Suez Stadium on Sunday.
Iajour had scored the opener a minute to half time but Muftah Hamad bagged the equalizer 47 seconds after the restart. Berkane keeper Zouhair Laaroubi guided the ball into his own net on the hour mark to hand Masry the second goal. However, the home side could not defend well against last season’s losing finalists, conceding an equalizer nine minutes to time.
