The Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) are one of the last African regions to announce suspension of its domestic league for the Coronavirus outbreak.
The decision came after the country reported two confirmed cases of people who have contracted the Covid-19 or Coronavirus.
FAZ League Manager Brian Mulenga confirmed in a statement that every league competition under FAZ is immediately suspended until further notice.
“Please take this as official notification that due to the prevailing situation vis a vis the COVID-19 virus we have regrettable task of informing you that all League football under the auspices of FAZ at all levels as well as of all affiliated leagues and associations is suspended until further notice,” Mulenga said.
Other African nations that have taken the same direction include South Africa, Ghana, Morocco, Tunisia, Egypt and Nigeria.
Meanwhile, Forest Rangers remain on top of the league with 46 points from 24 matches. Nakambala Leopards, Mufulira and Kabwe Youth Academy find themselves in the bottom three.
