Togolese star Fodoh Laba donates hospital supplies to fight coronavirus

Togolese international Fodoh Laba has donated 100 masks and 2000 pair of gloves to Lome's Sylvanus Olympio Hospital as part of his contribution to the battle against coronavirus.

The Al Ain striker has gone further than posting awareness messages on social media by supplementing the health workers efforts with the donation of the equipment.

The gesture was well received by the hospital's staff noting that it will go a long way in helping the fight against the highly contagious virus.

“With this donation, the staff will be comfortable to work better and will be ready to deal with any fresh cases. We have already taken preventive measures. We thank the donor. Other people must follow in the footsteps of our player so that we can control the pandemic within a week, " said Amah Tchorou, general supervisor of  Sylvanus Olympio hospital.

Togo has reported 16 Covid-19 positive cases while Africa has a total of at least 1,800 cases. The coronavirus outbreak has led to dozens of countries suspending their leagues and tournaments. CAF suspended CHAN 2020 that was scheduled to take place from April 4 to 25. The African football body had earlier cancelled the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers that were set for the last week of March.
