Former Ghana international Michael Essien has reportedly been given a position that insists of him coaching Sabail FK's U19 team, Football Ghana reported.
Essien was signed by the Azerbaijani side in March 2019 as a free agent after he ended his association with Indonesian club Persib Bandung.
He signed a one-and-a-half-year extension as a player and now he will have an additional role as the coach of the youth team.
Essien had one of the most impressive careers to date, after plying his trade for Chelsea, AC Milan as well as Real Madrid.
He scored nine goals from 58 appearances for the Ghana national team before he hung up his international boots.
